1st day

Found a great deal for LAX Plaza Hotel on Hotels.com (Did you know the CEO of Hotels.com is a woman? Cheryl Rosner... as of January 1, 2004). It was a last minute thing... our need to find a place to shack up for the night... because our friend - Hiro - couldn't take us to Los Angeles International airport in the morning as originally planned. Hotels.com provided easy navigation and search to find hotels specifically around the LAX area... What sold us on LAX Plaza Hotel was not only the price but the pictures of the hotel room. The room was $59 and with all taxes and services fees was only $70 (compared to the $75-$100+ average price I was seeing while doing my online research on hotel accomodations). Nice!

Mapquest.com didn't provide us very good directions to LAX Plaza Hotel. The directions told us take SEPULVEDA BLVD but we didn't see the exit from I-405. Maybe we just didn't see the exit. We started to get paranoid because we knew Sepulveda was near the airport so we made a U-turn. We had to call information and find their number. The only information we could give the operator was the address of LAX Plaza Hotel -- 6333 Bristol Parkway, Culver City, CA 90230. The operator said they have it listed as Ramada Plaza. Hmmm. We called the number the operator gave us and they did answer LAX Plaza Hotel. Cool.

We finally get there and there's construction everywhere. We found it hard to find the hotel entrance. There was a family outside with their luggage and so I asked them, "Excuse me, where's the entrance?" They said, "You actually have to enter through the cafe."

The lobby was nice. You can still smell the fresh paint and wood from all the construction. We know why we got this place so affordably - they're in a transition stage. I don't even think all the floors are open. I remember being in the elevator and pressing the wrong button for the 6th Floor. When the door opened, all you see is rolled up carpet.

That's us. Room 1107. It's funny - from the sign that indicates you are on the 11th floor and to the signs that shows your room number... they all were printed on a regular printer paper and just cut out and taped on the wall or door. Aside from that, I really liked the room decor! The bed sheets were so soft. The comforter you can sink into. So comfortable and King sized!

I want an ottoman (another item on the "things to buy for the house when I have money and we re-decorate list")! The ottoman looks nice but it isn't comfortable. It needs a small pillow for lumbar support.

Check out the TV. It was all warped. How ghetto!

The only food services provided was breakfast and dinner.
